Director, Manufacturing Test Engineering

We are seeking a hands-on Director of Manufacturing Test Engineering to lead and scale a team responsible for Python-based production test software supporting high-precision electro-mechanical sensor systems.
This role combines deep technical ownership of manufacturing test software with strong people leadership in a high-volume, contract manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do:
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of manufacturing test engineers
• Architect and oversee development of scalable, modular Python-based production test software
• Drive test time reduction, yield improvement, and production readiness through software and data-driven solutions
• Own CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins) and test software release processes
• Partner closely with contract manufacturers (CMs) to deploy, validate, and improve high-volume production test systems
• Travel (<10%) to support CM ramp, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
• Establish KPIs aligned to manufacturing throughput, quality, and NPI milestones
• Serve as subject matter expert for manufacturing test systems and production software infrastructure
Required Qualifications:
• 10+ years in engineering supporting high-precision electro-mechanical assemblies
• 3+ years of people management or technical team leadership experience
• 5+ years of strong Python development experience (required)
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, GitLab, Jenkins
• Strong SQL database design and data analysis experience
• Deep understanding of software development lifecycle best practices
• Experience supporting high-volume contract manufacturing environments strongly preferred
• BS in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (MS preferred)
Must be available to work full-time on-site in San Francisco, CA.
