Overview
We are seeking a skilled Kafka Platform Engineer to support the administration, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise data streaming platforms. This role focuses on managing Kafka environments across both on-premises and cloud-based systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance for a wide range of business applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Kafka platforms (self-hosted and cloud-based)
- Support and optimize Confluent Cloud and related services
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage incidents
- Develop platform enhancements, automation, and new capabilities
- Provide technical support to internal users and client applications
- Contribute to solution design and proof-of-concept development
- Perform code reviews and promote engineering best practices
- Mentor and support junior team members
Team & Environment
- Agile, collaborative team structure (5–9 members per team)
- Daily stand-ups, paired programming, and knowledge sharing
- Focus on platform operations and continuous improvement rather than project-based work
- Supports over 100+ applications leveraging real-time data streaming
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in platform or software engineering roles
- Strong experience with Apache Kafka administration
- Hands-on experience with AWS
- Knowledge of event-driven architecture and event streaming
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Confluent Cloud or Confluent Platform
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk)
- Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell)
- Understanding of networking protocols and endpoint engineering
- Exposure to cybersecurity concepts
- CISSP certification (preferred)
