Description

The Engineering Support Assistant is an entry-level technical role supporting semiconductor manufacturing and assembly operations. The position assists engineers across multiple disciplines including process, package, product, test, quality, reliability, and manufacturing engineering. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing production data, maintaining documentation, supporting manufacturing processes and equipment, performing basic troubleshooting activities, and helping implement Lean, Six Sigma, and 6S practices. This role is designed for candidates beginning their engineering careers, particularly those with co-op or internship experience and an interest in semiconductor technology.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize computer-based manufacturing systems to record data
  • Analyze/process data pursuant to project goals
  • Organize documentation and department records
  • Perform computer-aided design, process-flow, manufacturing setup, and other applicable software support
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, or modify equipment and record effects on unit performance
  • Complete paperwork associated with testing and troubleshooting
  • Follow defined specifications and reaction paths in the basic operation of equipment
  • Maintain a well-organized and audit-ready work area
  • Apply 6S, Six-Sigma, and LEAN concepts to practice

Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Interest in engineering, science, math, semiconductor assembly, or related technical fields
Technical Skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to utilize computer-based manufacturing systems
  • Ability to analyze and process data
  • Ability to perform computer-aided design (CAD) support activities
  • Ability to work with manufacturing and process software
  • Ability to adjust, calibrate, align, and modify equipment
  • Ability to complete testing and troubleshooting documentation
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Preferred Knowledge
  • Statistical methods experience
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) knowledge
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma concepts
  • Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing concepts
  • Understanding of 6S workplace organization
Soft Skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize documentation and records
  • Ability to maintain audit-ready work areas
  • Ability to follow defined procedures and reaction paths
