RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Carlsbad, CA that is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and integration of advanced medical device systems. This role requires expertise in electrical engineering for regulated environments, with a strong emphasis on IEC 60601 safety standards, EMC/EMI compliance, and experience in Class II or Class III medical devices. The ideal candidate combines technical depth with leadership skills, driving innovation while ensuring adherence to stringent safety and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the architecture, design, and development of electrical subsystems for complex medical platforms, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards
* Translate user and system requirements into robust electrical designs, validating materials and manufacturing processes
* Develop and execute verification and validation strategies, including simulation, prototyping, debugging, and performance testing
* Implement rigorous design controls to ensure product reliability, safety, and compliance with IEC 60601 and related standards
* Author detailed technical documentation, reports, and design histories to support regulatory submissions and continuous improvement
* Optimize existing designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and enhanced performance
* Conduct root-cause analysis and corrective actions for electrical failures or anomalies
* Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams
* Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions
* Stay informed on emerging technologies and incorporate innovative approaches into product development

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred
* Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 2 years in Class II or Class III medical device development
* Strong knowledge of IEC 60601 safety standards, EMC/EMI compliance, and regulatory design practices
* Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD)
* Hands-on experience with interface protocols (SPI, I-C, UART, Ethernet) and power supply design
* Familiarity with PLL, DDS, ADC/DAC, and low-noise system design
* Experience with DSP-based systems and signal processing preferred
* Background in multi-phase design control processes, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
