Own end-to-end Workday functional design and configuration across Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Absence/Leave, and Payroll.
Partner with HR, Finance, Payroll, and IT to translate business requirements into scalable configurations, secure processes, compliant data flows, and successful deployments.
Core Responsibilities
Functional Analysis and Design
Lead discovery workshops; document requirements, process maps, and user stories for Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Absence/Leave, and Payroll.
Define configuration workbooks, decision logs, and guardrails; assess downstream impacts across Recruiting, Performance, Talent, Finance, and integrations.
Workday Configuration and Business Processes
Core HCM
Organizations, staffing models, worker data, Hire/Change Job/Terminate flows, position management, job profiles/architecture, eligibility rules.
Benefits
Enrollment events (life event/open enrollment), plans/packages, eligibility, rates/coverage tiers, dependents, EOI, COBRA, vendor file specs.
Compensation
Grade structures, ranges, comp plans (salary/bonequity), merit cycles, eligibility, comp basis and components, approvals and audit.
Absence/Leave
Time off and leave types, accruals/calculations, carryover rules, eligibility, balances, calendars, leave of absence processes and reinstatement.
Payroll
Pay groups/schedules, earning/deduction codes, taxation setup, retro/off-cycle processing, payroll result validations, year-end updates, vendor interfaces.
Security, Compliance, and Data Governance
Design RBAC aligned to least-privilege; maintain access matrices, approvals, and quarterly reviews.
Ensure compliant handling of personal and payroll data; align with audit, privacy, and InfoSec standards.
Define control points (SOX-impacted flows), evidence collection, and remediation playbooks.
Integrations and Data Flows
Partner with technical teams to align SSO, HRIS, benefits carriers, payroll providers, LMS, and finance systems.
Own functional mapping, field usage, and file/interface specifications; validate end-to-end data quality.
Testing, Deployment, and Change Enablement
Build and execute test plans (unit/SIT/UAT); triage defects and sign-off readiness.
Lead cutover checklists, reconciliation, and hypercare; deliver admin training, SOPs, and user comms.
Operations and Continuous Improvement
Monitor process SLAs, access queues, payroll control results, and carrier/partner feed health.
Analyze feedback and metrics; prioritize backlog and configuration refinements.
