Job Type: contract
Experience: 5+ Years
Start Date: 03 August
Work Model: 100% Onsite (No Remote)
Domain Experience: Mandatory

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to own the documentation ecosystem for our Augmented Reality (AR) Data Collection operations. In this role, you will serve as the critical bridge between our engineering/research teams and the operational workforce collecting high-fidelity data in field and lab environments.

You will not just "write" documentation; you will design the information architecture that ensures safety, data integrity, and operational efficiency. You will document complex hardware setup procedures, rigorous data capture protocols, and troubleshooting guides for next-generation AR devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and maintain detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for data collection pilots and large-scale studies, ensuring 100% protocol adherence by non-technical operators.
  • Produce clear, visual-heavy documentation for the setup, calibration, hygiene, and maintenance of proprietary AR headsets, sensors, and motion capture rigs.
  • Collaborate with Research Scientists, Hardware Engineers, and Program Managers to translate complex technical requirements into user-friendly operational documentation.
  • Observe data collection sessions (in-lab or via video) to validate documentation effectiveness and continuously improve content based on operator feedback and data quality.
  • Partner with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) teams to document safety protocols for users operating immersive hardware in physical environments.
  • Manage and maintain documentation repositories such as Confluence and internal Wikis, ensuring version control and easy accessibility.
  • Create or coordinate instructional assets including diagrams, flowcharts, screenshots, photographs, and short training videos to support written documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer, with at least 2 years focused on Hardware, Manufacturing, Operations, or AR/VR technologies.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience writing:
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Hardware User Guides
    • Troubleshooting Manuals
    • Step-by-Step Technical Instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand proprietary hardware and software technologies.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting technical issues to accurately document solutions.
  • Proficiency in creating visual documentation using tools such as:
    • Snagit
    • Photoshop
    • Lucidchart
    • Microsoft Visio
  • Expert-level experience with documentation platforms including:
    • Confluence
    • Google Workspace
    • CMS tools such as MadCap Flare
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments where hardware and software specifications evolve rapidly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with:
    • Augmented Reality (AR)
    • Computer Vision
    • Machine Learning Data Pipelines
  • Experience creating instructional videos using:
    • Adobe Premiere Pro
    • Camtasia
  • Experience writing UI/UX content or error messages for data collection software.
  • Background in instructional design or delivering training sessions for operational teams.

Core Competencies

  • Ability to write for non-technical users while preserving technical accuracy.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring data collection procedures are followed without error.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and gather technical information effectively.
