Sr. Staff Cloud FinOps Analyst

About the Role:

As a Sr. Staff Cloud FinOps Analyst- Eng, you will play a critical role in defining and driving enterprise FinOps strategy. This position combines deep expertise in cloud financial management with strategic leadership to influence executive decision-making, establish governance frameworks, and solve complex, cross-functional challenges. You will operate with significant autonomy to shape how FinOps is practiced across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Governance & Strategic Leadership
  • Define and evolve enterprise FinOps governance, including operating models, forecasting frameworks, and reporting standards.
  • Develop strategy for forecasting, budgeting, and optimization across multiple business units.
  • Act as a senior FinOps advisor influencing organizational direction and investment decisions.

Cost Awareness & Architecture Integration
  • Establish enterprise-wide practices to embed cost awareness into architecture and engineering workflows.
  • Provide strategic cost-to-serve insights to influence pricing, capacity planning, and investment strategies.

Optimization & Enablement
  • Lead large-scale optimization initiatives across teams and business units.
  • Develop new approaches, frameworks, and methodologies for cost optimization and efficiency.
  • Drive adoption of standardized tagging, allocation, and cost visibility practices across the organization.

Reporting & Tooling
  • Define enterprise reporting standards and metrics for cloud financial performance.
  • Oversee development of dashboards and insights used by senior leadership.

Collaboration & Demand Planning
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning engineering, finance, and business organizations.
  • Partner with senior leaders to align cloud spend with long-term business strategy.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience:
    • 7+ years in FinOps or cloud financial management roles.
    • Minimum 3+ years hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (or similar - AWS, Azure) billing concepts.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in Excel and enterprise financial systems (SAP, Oracle).
    • Deep familiarity with cloud-native cost tools and third-party FinOps platforms.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Enterprise FinOps strategy and governance.
    • Advanced financial modeling and cloud economics.
    • Executive communication and stakeholder influence.
    • Ability to solve complex, ambiguous problems.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or Professional.
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).

The pay range for this position is $129,500 to $186,100. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and work location. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible to participate in a performance-based bonus plan and to receive restricted stock unit awards as part of total compensation.
