Summary

ApTask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking an Oracle DBA Lead with a Technology Services Company. This is a 12+ month contract-to-hire position. This position is 100% remote with EST hours preferred.

Summary:
This position is responsible for all levels of database management: administration, maintenance, overall design and consulting. Position requires a broad exposure to database management systems, administration, security, performance and availability, usually for a number of database engines most popularly used in the industry. Promotions to this level are based on business need.

Responsibilities:
  • Plans, designs, implements, and maintains complex database management infrastructure. Installs, configures, and maintains database management software and creates and administers databases.
  • Consults with applications support staff, vendor representatives, and outside consultants on overall database implementation and performance optimization.
  • Develops and documents database standards and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains scripts used for database maintenance and monitoring.
  • Monitors databases with regard to security, capacity, availability, and performance. Makes modifications to configuration or other tuning parameters in order to optimize efficiency and performance.
  • Makes modifications to database configuration and objects to support normal database growth and application enhancements.
  • Installs and configures database software and upgrades on multiple platforms.
  • Designs and implements database backup and recovery procedures.
  • Creates test and development databases. Creates and executes procedures to populate test and development databases.
  • Manages database security and access changes.
  • Performs upgrades to existing databases and develops procedures to migrate data and/or databases to new servers.
  • Researches and tests new database software and tools.
  • Stays abreast of industry and vendor trends affecting overall database utilization, and recommends strategic database architecture directions.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics with a focus on computer technology and a minimum of eight years of experience in business, information technology, and databases, or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis, is required.
  • Consideration will be given to an advanced degree in lieu of experience.
  • Appropriate certifications required.
  • Incumbent must effectively deal with the rapid technological and business change while maintaining enthusiasm and displaying sound judgment and common sense.

Pay range: up to 82.14 per hour.
