Summary

Position Summary

The Designer/Drafter 2 is responsible for producing and detailing routine drawings and layouts for components, facilities, and systems. This role generates and modifies computer-aided design (CAD) drawings of moderate complexity based on engineering input and established standards. The Designer/Drafter 2 works both independently and collaboratively within an engineering team to ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely deliverables that meet industry codes, standards, and customer specifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and detail routine drawings and layouts for components, facilities, and/or systems.

  • Generate and modify CAD drawings and design models of moderate complexity.

  • Prepare work plans, drawings, and layouts in accordance with industry codes, standards, and customer specifications.

  • Collaborate with engineering team members to ensure drawing accuracy and quality.

  • Develop CAD drawings under the direction of a senior designer.

  • Perform calculations in support of technical design problems.

  • Apply engineering design principles to the design and fabrication of components and assemblies as directed.

  • Ensure work is completed within established budget and schedule constraints.

  • Demonstrate understanding of fabrication, construction, operation, and maintenance requirements relevant to the assigned discipline.

  • Participate in continuous improvement and process enhancement activities.

  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.


Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma required.

  • Additional technical training or coursework in drafting, design, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related drafting/design experience, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in CAD software.

  • Strong understanding of drafting standards and engineering design principles.

  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering documentation.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to manage workload within budget and schedule requirements.
