The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is partner-tracking an exceptional, forward-thinking Power Electronics Engineer to spearhead the structural design and practical realization of sophisticated, high-energy systems destined for rugged maritime operations. Operating within an innovative R&D atmosphere that balances cutting-edge engineering with entrepreneurial flexibility, you will drive the development of specialized subsea communication technologies, autonomous marine vehicle payloads, and intricate electromechanical actuation systems.

This pivotal position provides an outstanding trajectory for a technical specialist eager to invent, prototype, and deliver robust electrical architectures that conquer the world''s most unforgiving environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and refine complex power conversion and distribution networks ranging from 500W to 50kW, ensuring peak survival and efficiency in extreme operational environments.

  • Execute end-to-end hardware development lifecycles, incorporating comprehensive circuit simulations, meticulous component evaluation, schematic generation, and precise PCB layout coordination.

  • Champion the prototyping, bench testing, and continuous debugging of high-voltage sub-systems using sophisticated laboratory diagnostic apparatus, including digital oscilloscopes, function generators, and specialized probes.

  • Synthesize high-availability power topologies and robust failover mechanisms to secure uninterrupted operations for business-critical maritime applications.

  • Integrate magnetic architectures, power amplifiers, and energy-storage components seamlessly with advanced embedded microprocessors.

  • Maximize system reliability through meticulous electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design strategies and collaborative hardware-software verification.

  • Drive collaborative field engineering efforts, dedicating up to 25% of your time to on-site testing and client-facing technical briefings.

  • Mentor early-career engineering personnel, fostering institutional expertise in circuit layout, diagnostic methodology, and hardware verification.

What You Bring

  • Academic Foundation: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, specifically focusing on power systems or advanced energy architectures.

  • Professional Longevity: A minimum of 4 years of hands-on power electronics design experience with a BSEE, or 1+ years of specialized experience accompanied by an MSEE/PhD.

  • Technical Mastery: Proven expertise manipulating semiconductor devices, including MOSFETs, SiC FETs, Schottky diodes, and IGBTs.

  • Core Topologies: Profound familiarity with diverse converter methodologies (including buck, boost, flyback, and SEPIC) alongside their corresponding control logic.

  • Analytical Toolkit: Practical capability utilizing MATLAB for data interpretation and signal analysis, alongside basic exposure to embedded systems programming via C/C++ or Python.

  • Domain Attributes (Preferred): Prior exposure to acoustic transducers, marine vehicle architectures, subsea propulsion drives, or custom electronics assembly within an agile R&D framework.

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Core Compensation: Competitive base salary ranging from $140,000 to $180,000 annually, precisely aligned with advanced industry standards and technical seniority.

  • Performance & Equity Incentives: Discretionary performance bonuses tied to milestone completions and technical excellence in product delivery.

  • Health & Wellness Perks: Superior, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance packages, complemented by robust mental health support programs.

  • Future Planning: Fully vested 401(k) retirement plan featuring an aggressive corporate matching program, comprehensive life insurance coverage, and generous corporate relocation assistance to the Greater Boston or Southern New England region.

  • Work-Life Balance: Expansive paid time off (PTO) allocation for vacations and personal wellness, parental leave structures, and flexible on-site operational scheduling tailored to small-team dynamics.
