Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer with strong expertise in Service Provider Routing & Switching, network automation, DevOps, and operational network support. The engineer will provide technical support, troubleshooting, network optimization, automation, and operational assistance for complex service provider network environments.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with routing and switching technologies and the ability to support production networks while working closely with engineering, operations, and customer teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for Service Provider Routing & Switching
- Troubleshoot complex network connectivity, routing, switching, and performance issues.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routing protocols and network infrastructure.
- Support network operations, incident management, change management, and root-cause analysis.
- Develop and implement network automation solutions to reduce manual operational activities.
- Use scripting and automation tools to improve network configuration and operational efficiency.
- Support DevOps/IaC initiatives related to network infrastructure.
- Participate in network deployments, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure modernization projects.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity.
- Work with engineering and operations teams to resolve critical production issues.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, procedures, and operational standards.
- Coordinate with customers, vendors, and internal teams during troubleshooting and implementation activities.
- Support continuous improvement of network reliability, automation, and operational processes.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with Service Provider Routing & Switching.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise/service-provider routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and related technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and network operations experience.
- Experience with network automation and scripting.
- Knowledge of DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
- Experience with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, or similar automation technologies.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching, and network security.
- Experience supporting production network environments.
- Strong communication, documentation, and customer-facing skills.
Clearance Requirement
Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly is mandatory.
Candidates must be able to work in the United States and meet all applicable security and clearance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale Service Provider or telecommunications networks.
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or other service-provider networking platforms.
- Experience with SD-WAN or large-scale WAN environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
- Experience automating network configuration and operational processes.
- Relevant networking certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent.
