Education RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Experience Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Louisiana, or ability to obtain Louisiana licensure within 6 months
- Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of IBC, ACI 318, AISC, ASCE 7, and current wind, seismic, and flood-resiliency provisions
- Experience with structural analysis and design software such as RISA, STAAD.Pro, Revit, Advanced Steel, or similar programs
- Project management experience including budgeting, scheduling, cost estimating, and contract administration
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit/BIM platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Job Duties
- Lead structural engineering projects from concept through construction for industrial, municipal, water/wastewater, site development, and commercial building projects
- Perform structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and cold-formed steel structures
- Design foundations, framing systems, equipment supports, and other structural components
- Prepare structural calculations, engineering reports, plans, specifications, and construction details
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements
- Manage project budgets, schedules, cost estimates, and available resources
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and construction documents for accuracy and compliance
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, architects, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Oversee construction administration and monitor project progress through completion
- Utilize BIM, CAD, and structural analysis software to develop technical drawings and model-based designs
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff while supporting team development
- Maintain project documentation, reports, records, and submittals
- Resolve project challenges while maintaining strong client relationships and professional integrity
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to visit project and construction sites as needed
- Ability to review plans, drawings, and technical documentation
