Summary:

Energy Transfer is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager to lead key accounting functions within our Crude Marketing Services division. This critical leadership role oversees Joint Interest Billing (JIB), Revenue Accounting, and related financial processes for our E&P operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in upstream oil & gas accounting, strong SAP proficiency, and proven leadership in managing complex, multi-well and multi-owner environments. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting while driving process improvements and supporting strategic business decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead Joint Interest Billing (JIB) Operations: Oversee the preparation, review, and distribution of JIBs for operated and non-operated properties. Ensure accurate allocation of capital and operating expenses, joint interest reconciliations, and resolution of billing disputes with partners.
  • Manage Revenue Accounting: Direct month-end revenue processes including production volume reconciliation, revenue accrual and actualization, severance tax calculations, royalty payments, and revenue distribution to working interest owners and royalty owners.
  • SAP System Expertise & Optimization: Serve as a key SAP user and subject matter expert (primarily in modules such as JVA - Joint Venture Accounting, PRA - Production Revenue Accounting, and FI/CO). Drive system enhancements, configuration improvements, and integration projects to streamline upstream accounting workflows.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals (senior accountants, analysts, and specialists). Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and analyze upstream financial reports, variance analysis, and ad-hoc reports for management and external stakeholders. Support quarterly/annual financial close processes and audit requirements.
  • Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to SOX controls, GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and industry-specific regulations (e.g., revenue recognition under ASC 606). Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting for JIB and revenue activities.
  • Process Improvement & Projects: Identify and lead initiatives to automate processes, reduce cycle times, and improve data accuracy. Participate in system implementations, upgrades, or ERP-related projects.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with Operations, Land, Marketing, Joint Interest partners, and external auditors. Resolve complex accounting issues and provide strategic guidance on joint venture agreements and revenue contracts.

    • Strong Revenue Accounting background, including production revenue, royalties, and tax reporting.
    • SAP experience (JVA, PRA, FI/CO)
  • Proven track record managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes in a fast-paced E&P environment.
  • Experience with complex joint venture agreements, AFE management, and partner settlements.
