Summary

Description
The Lead Study Moderator anchors on-site execution for in-person user research and data collection studies. This role owns daily session flow across the site - directing moderators, managing the participant pipeline, resolving live issues with prototype hardware, and serving as the single point of accountability for protocol adherence and data integrity. The Lead Study Moderator is a working supervisor: actively moderating sessions while overseeing throughput, quality, and team coordination across shifts.
On-site oversight of moderated study execution, including session pacing, protocol adherence, and quality control across multiple concurrent moderators
Direct moderation of in-person sessions when required, including ICF administration, participant guidance, and data capture
Real-time troubleshooting of prototype hardware, with judgment on when to escalate vs. resolve in-session
Participant pipeline management - scheduling, attendance tracking, no-show recovery, and same-day adjustments to maintain throughput
Strong operational discipline, discretion handling confidential hardware and participant data, and clear written/verbal communication with research and engineering stakeholders
Prior experience leading or coordinating field research, usability, or human factors studies
Background in human factors, ergonomics, or applied research operations
Comfort interfacing directly with cross-functional engineering and research partners
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to direct small on-site teams in fast-paced, evolving study environments
Sound judgment under ambiguity - able to make trade-off decisions on session flow, participant handling, and equipment issues without waiting for offsite direction
Calm, professional presence with participants and stakeholders; sets the tone for the moderator team
Adaptable to shifting priorities, last-minute protocol changes, and dynamic daily schedules
