OverviewA leading defense and national security contractor is seeking a
Software Engineer to support mission-critical ground systems and operational software platforms. This role is part of a large, multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for developing, modernizing, and sustaining advanced software capabilities used across multiple CONUS and OCONUS operational locations.
This is a 100% on-site position within a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
Key Responsibilities- Develop C++ software in a fast-paced Agile environment using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) virtual machines, servers, and workstations.
- Design, implement, and unit test new software features based on algorithmic and mathematical requirements.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software discrepancies; deliver updates based on discrepancy reports.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, subject-matter experts, and multiple subsystem teams within the broader software organization.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 0-2 years of experience,
- OR a Master's or PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.
- (An additional 4 years of software experience may substitute for a degree.)
- Active SSBI at the time of application and ability to obtain SCI prior to start.
- Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming, specifically C++.
- Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with DevSecOps and automated test frameworks.
- Additional programming or scripting experience in C, C++, Java, Python, or Perl.
- Strong mathematical and algorithm development skills.
- Experience working within an Agile scrum team or familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Proficiency with the Atlassian tool suite: Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo.
- Experience developing in a Linux environment using git.
- Active SCI clearance.
