Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Data Entry Technician to support a critical data migration project within our manufacturing facility in Normal, IL. In this role, you will assist in transitioning legacy tooling and fixture data from traditional 2D Excel spreadsheets and photo logs into Client's dynamic 3D digital twin modeling application. You will analyze static 2D images of body shop fixtures, locate corresponding components within a 3D digital environment, and accurately record shim logs, specifications, and fixture details. Note: This is a specialized data entry and visual inspection role. It does NOT require CAD drafting, 3D mesh editing, or software development experience. Full training on how to operate the 3D viewing application will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- 2D Data Analysis: Review legacy Excel spreadsheets and embedded fixture photographs to extract target shim log records, dimensions, and hardware specifications.
- 3D Model Navigation: Operate Client's 3D modeling application to rotate, zoom, pan, and locate specific 3D fixture units corresponding to the 2D reference images.
- Data Migration & Input: Cross-reference data points between systems and accurately record fixture and shim log details directly into the 3D application interface.
- Quality Assurance & Discrepancy Reporting: Meticulously review entries for errors and flag/document any inconsistencies between legacy spreadsheets and 3D models for Quality Engineering review.
- Process Tracking: Maintain daily logs of migrated records to ensure project timeline targets are met.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Spatial Awareness & Visual Inspection: Ability to mentally translate a static 2D image or photo into a 3D model environment to accurately identify parts and shim locations.
- Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy with zero-tolerance for data entry errors when transferring numerical values and specifications.
- Software Aptitude: Strong comfort level with computer applications, including navigating 3D software interfaces (rotate, pan, zoom, select) and managing standard Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets data.
- Communication: Ability to follow structured workflows, ask questions when encountering ambiguous data, and document discrepancies clearly.
- Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent; prior experience in data entry, quality control, blueprint reading, or manufacturing administration is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic exposure to manufacturing environments, tooling, assembly fixtures, or engineering documentation.
- Prior experience working with visual inspection software, 3D viewers (e.g., eDrawings, Navisworks), or digital mapping tools.
