Summary

Project Overview

This role sits at the center of a large-scale finance and data modernization initiative within a highly established insurance and financial services organization. The Data Architect will lead the design and evolution of enterprise data architecture as the organization modernizes its finance platforms and migrates critical data warehouse assets to the cloud.
You'll work closely with business and technology leaders to ensure financial data is accurate, reliable, scalable, and accessible across multiple products and platforms. This role is highly strategic, influencing long-term architecture decisions while also providing hands-on leadership through design, documentation, and implementation.
This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on how finance data is structured, governed, and consumed across the enterprise.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Leading finance data modernization efforts, including AR/AP transaction data, banking data, and financial reporting structures
  • Designing and evolving enterprise-wide data architectures that align with business strategy and long-term technology roadmaps
  • Supporting the migration of on-prem data warehouses to Azure-based cloud solutions
  • Creating and maintaining data models, data flows, and architectural documentation that support scalable analytics and reporting
  • Partnering with finance, analytics, and engineering teams to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and usability
  • Evaluating emerging data technologies and making architecture recommendations that support modernization goals
  • Establishing architectural standards, governance principles, and best practices across data platforms

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture or enterprise data design
  • Strong background in data warehousing and financial data environments
  • Experience designing complex data models and enterprise data solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud technologies
  • Proficiency with SQL, Python, and data integration/orchestration tools
  • Ability to document architecture, data flows, and operational processes clearly
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting finance systems or finance data warehouses (SAP, Workday, or similar)
  • Knowledge of Inmon and Kimball data modeling principles
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, or Snowflake
  • Familiarity with data lake and lakehouse architectures
  • Experience with DevOps and version control tools (Git, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies
  • background in cloud-based enterprise data migrations

Work Environment

  • On-site role. Required 5 days onsite in Omaha, Nebraska. Preferring local candidates, relocation unavailable.
  • Works closely with senior data and technology leadership
  • Long-term contract supporting enterprise modernization initiatives

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $10.00 - $11.00/hr.
