As products mature and scale, accurate configuration control, documentation management, and structured data governance are critical for maintaining product integrity and long-term reliability.
- The PLM team partners closely with Design Engineering, Product Lifecycle Engineering (PLE), Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality to ensure that product data, drawings, and bills of materials remain organized, accurate, and up-to-date throughout the product lifecycle.
The Role- We are seeking a Project Engineer focused on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) support. This role emphasizes project and program management of product data, documentation workflows, and configuration control rather than hands-on design engineering.
- You will manage drawing updates, Bill of Materials (BOM) alignment, and product data. You will also support cross-functional teams by maintaining data accuracy, coordinating engineering changes, and ensuring that all product artifacts are properly controlled and traceable.
- Technical or engineering familiarity is helpful for onboarding quickly, but strong organizational and project management skills are the top priority.
A Day in the LifeIn this role, you will regularly:
- Maintain product data, drawings, and documentation within internal PLM system
- Track and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) updates and version control
- Coordinate engineering change requests (ECR/ECO) with design and manufacturing teams
- Support mechanical engineering teams by structuring and organizing product artifacts
- Ensure proper workflow execution for drawing release, review, approval, and archiving
- Run data queries (SQL or similar) to validate records, pull reports, or identify discrepancies
- Facilitate cross-team communication for product updates, changes, and data integrity tasks
- Provide clear status reporting and maintain dashboards and trackers
- Drive consistency, accuracy, and compliance across product documentation and lifecycle data
Key Responsibilities- Own daily management of PLM workflows including drawings, BOMs, and product artifacts
- Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and versioning of product documentation
- Collaborate with design engineering to ensure documentation reflects current design intent
- Coordinate cross-functional reviews and track completion of engineering changes
- Develop and maintain dashboards for lifecycle data visibility, change status, and BOM health
- Perform basic SQL or data queries to support reporting and quality checks
- Support process improvements related to PLM workflows, documentation control, and configuration management
- Ensure compliance with internal standards for documentation and product data practices
- Engage with mechanical engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing partners to ensure alignment
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years of experience in project management, program coordination, PLM support, or engineering operations
- Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, or technical documentation
- Strong organizational and cross-functional coordination skills
- Ability to work within structured product data systems (PLM, PDM, or equivalent)
- Familiarity with SQL, reporting tools, or data-analysis workflows (preferred but not required)
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting mechanical, hardware, or engineering teams
- Engineering education (mechanical or related) for faster onboarding, but not required
- Experience with Windchill, Agile, Arena, or other PLM/PDM systems
- Understanding of engineering documentation standards (drawings, BOM structure, revision control)
- Program management certifications or training (PMP, Agile, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and documentation workflows
