Randstad is seeking a Lead Solutions Architect (Cloud Infrastructure & Cyber) on behalf of a premier transportation and travel enterprise in the Washington, D.C. area (primarily remote with occasional on-site PI planning events). Sitting within a newly structured Infrastructure and Cybersecurity domain, this role demands a veteran technologist who operates as a hands-on "player-coach." You will bridge high-level enterprise architecture strategy with execution-defining IaaS target states, establishing security baselines, and writing hands-on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to upskill engineering teams. As a key domain leader, you will leverage exceptional influence to align stakeholders from delivery teams to board members, drive accountability, and lay the groundwork for long-term enterprise architecture leadership.

responsibilities:
Domain Architecture & Strategy: Define and govern target-state architectures, reference standards, and multi-year roadmaps for cloud infrastructure (IaaS), hybrid networking, and cybersecurity systems.
Hands-on IaC Leadership & Mentorship: Act as a "player-coach" by creating reference implementations, building delivery pipelines, and writing code in Terraform and Git to actively mentor and upskill engineering teams.
Cybersecurity & Compliance Integration: Translate complex regulatory and security requirements (including PCI DSS, NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and FRA obligations) into secure, automated, and implementable infrastructure patterns.
Stakeholder Influence & Delivery: Communicate technical strategies, trade-offs, and architecture decisions clearly across all enterprise levels-building consensus and driving execution among engineers, peer architects, and executive leaders.
Domain Alignment: Maintain clear domain boundaries and integration points with peer architecture leads across platforms, data, and corporate stewardship.
Architecture Governance: Review system designs, manage technical debt, resolve cross-domain design issues, and ensure infrastructure investments directly advance enterprise business priorities.
qualifications:
Deep Industry Experience: 20+ years of progressive technology leadership and architecture experience across enterprise infrastructure and cybersecurity (former CTO, CIO, or Principal Architect experience strongly preferred).
Hands-on Technical Mastery: Proven, current technical proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), version control (Git), automated CI/CD pipelines, and cloud security architectures.
IaaS & Cybersecurity Depth: Core domain expertise in IaaS, software-defined networking, identity and access management (IAM), and automated security controls.
Exceptional Influence & Communication: Master-level interpersonal and presentation skills with a track record of driving change and accountability in complex, matrixed environments.
Enterprise Execution: Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent architecture engagements, scale technical capability, and deliver measurable outcomes for large-scale enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree: Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Computer Science, or a related field.
Domain Expertise: Prior technology experience within the Transportation, Travel, or Logistics sectors.
Broad Architecture Domain Coverage: Comprehensive knowledge across Solution, Technical/Infrastructure, Security, and Enterprise Architecture frameworks.
