Senior Scrum Master - AI-Led Development & Engineering Enablement

Position Type: 6+ months Contract

Location: Southlake, TX (Hybrid: 4 days per week on-site)

Industry: Enterprise Financial Services / Technology Modernization

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Scrum Master to lead and coach software engineering squads supporting strategic, AI-led development initiatives. In this role, you will champion Agile values and the Scrum framework, guiding dedicated development teams-including newly onboarded engineers-to deliver measurable business value within a high-velocity, modern AI-assisted engineering environment.

You will act as the Scrum authority across multiple concurrent engineering squads, evangelizing servant leadership, driving continuous process maturity, and removing operational bottlenecks. A core focus of this engagement is establishing predictable delivery rhythms, adapting Agile ceremonies for AI-native workflows, and fostering an empowered, self-organizing engineering culture in collaboration with Product Owners, Project Managers, and cross-functional technology leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Scrum Process Governance & Coaching: Guide and educate software development teams, Product Owners, QA engineers, and business analysts on Scrum principles, values, and ceremonies in alignment with the Scrum Guide.
  • AI-Assisted Workflow Enablement: Partner with newly onboarded engineering cohorts and existing developers to integrate, scale, and optimize Agile practices within an AI-assisted and AI-native software delivery ecosystem.
  • Concurrent Multi-Team Leadership: Serve as the dedicated Scrum Master for two or more Agile squads simultaneously, managing cross-team dependencies, synchronizing deliverables, and facilitating cross-functional alignment.
  • Ceremony Facilitation: Plan, organize, and facilitate effective Agile ceremonies, including Daily Scrums, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and structured Sprint Retrospectives.
  • Impediment Removal & Risk Management: Proactively identify, track, and eliminate technical, operational, and organizational blockers that jeopardize Sprint commitments and team velocity.
  • Product Owner Partnership: Collaborate with Product Owners to refine backlogs, conduct relative estimation, define Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done (DoD), and maintain release plans that maximize business value.
  • Information Radiation & Metrics Telemetry: Establish and maintain transparency into team performance by tracking and reporting sprint burndown/burnup charts, cycle times, lead times, and velocity predictability to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Engineering & Delivery Practice Evolution: Assist teams in establishing consistent sprint cadences while encouraging experimentation and continuous improvement across engineering toolchains and practices.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of dedicated experience serving as a Scrum Master within enterprise software development environments.
  • 5+ years of software delivery experience involving cross-team dependencies and multi-team coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an AI-led engineering environment, with proven success guiding or scaling AI-assisted software development practices across technical teams.
  • 3+ years of experience managing stakeholder expectations, project status reporting, delivery schedules, and change management workflows.
  • Proven track record leading two or more Scrum teams concurrently within a complex, large-scale enterprise setting.
  • Thorough mastery of backlog grooming, relative sizing/story pointing, release planning, sprint metrics (velocity, predictability, burndown/burnup), and retrospectives.
  • Solid technical grasp of modern software architecture, engineering standards, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry-recognized Agile/Scrum certifications (e.g., CSM, PSM, CSPO, or PMI-ACP).
  • Direct experience with Scaled Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Nexus, or Spotify model) and coordinating Scrum of Scrums or Agile Release Trains.
  • Prior background serving as a traditional Project Manager or Program Manager in enterprise technology environments.
  • Working knowledge of modern DevOps, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and automated deployment practices.
  • Experience supporting development teams within the financial services or wealth management sector.
