Job Summary
The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an experienced Cerner Millennium CCL & Data Transformation Lead to support enterprise Electronic Health Record (EHR) migration and modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Cerner Millennium architecture, Cerner Command Language (CCL), healthcare data extraction, ETL development, and clinical workflow analysis.
This role will work closely with clinical informatics teams, business stakeholders, and technical delivery teams to design, develop, and optimize data extraction, reporting, migration, and integration solutions within Cerner Millennium environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and document clinical workflows across inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary care environments.
- Translate clinical and operational requirements into technical specifications, data models, and reporting solutions.
- Design, develop, test, optimize, and maintain Cerner Command Language (CCL) scripts.
- Perform complex data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and migration activities from Cerner Millennium Oracle schemas.
- Support enterprise-wide EHR migration, legacy system retirement, and data modernization initiatives.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes, structured data feeds, flat-file extracts, and integration workflows.
- Troubleshoot and resolve CCL performance issues, reporting defects, and downstream integration challenges.
- Collaborate with clinical informatics, reporting teams, analysts, and developers to ensure accurate implementation of clinical requirements.
- Communicate technical limitations, system dependencies, and data constraints to business and non-technical stakeholders.
- Execute and tune batch jobs and support production/non-production Cerner environments.
- Participate in system optimization, performance tuning, and healthcare data integration activities.
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards, security policies, and healthcare data governance practices.
Required Qualifications
- 11+ years of experience in healthcare IT, EHR systems, or clinical data environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cerner Command Language (CCL).
- Extensive knowledge of Cerner Millennium architecture and Oracle databases.
- Proven experience supporting large-scale EHR implementation, migration, or optimization projects.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operations.
- Experience with SQL, Linux/Unix, ETL processes, and enterprise data extraction patterns.
- Experience with healthcare reporting, analytics, and data integration environments.
- Knowledge of REST/SOA services, distributed systems, networking, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and integration development.
- Working knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, Perl, C, C++, or OCI.
- Experience supporting cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OCI.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting Cerner Millennium production environments.
- Experience serving as a Senior Cerner Consultant or Technical Lead.
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability and clinical reporting standards.
- Experience working with large public sector or healthcare organizations.
