Job Overview:

Requirement/Must Have:

  • Experience with data center hardware installation and support.
  • Knowledge of copper and fiber optic cabling infrastructure.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting, testing, and break-fix activities.
  • Experience using OTDR, Fluke, EFXO, and related fiber testing tools.
  • Strong understanding of SMF and MMF systems.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as required.
  • Due to the nature of the job, the candidate should be able to lift 50 to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Experience:

  • Preferred 3 5 years of fiber optic experience.
  • Experience with fiber termination, fusion splicing, and mechanical splicing.
  • Experience with data center installation and infrastructure support.
  • Experience troubleshooting MMF and SMF systems.
  • Experience with OSP and confined space entry preferred.
  • Experience using DCIM tools and ticket tracking systems.
  • Experience with RMA processing and inventory management.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and complete scheduled data center MAC activities.
  • Perform hardware installation, labeling, and network/power cable connectivity tasks.
  • Complete hardware support work orders including troubleshooting and break-fix activities.
  • Manage assets, audits, and daily work logs.
  • Provide smart-hands support within SLA response times.
  • Maintain a safe and secure data center environment.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and records of activities performed.
  • Follow site security, badging, and data protection procedures.
  • Coordinate receiving, shipping, and RMA processing activities.
  • Provide vendor and security escorts as needed.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of data center areas.
  • Conduct physical inspections and error log reporting for power, cooling, and environmental health.
  • Coordinate equipment installation schedules according to project plans.
  • Mount and install racks, patch panels, grounding systems, and fiber optic hardware.
  • Perform copper and fiber cable testing, troubleshooting, and installations.
  • Install various fiber connectors including LC, SC, ST, FC, MPO/MTP, and others.
  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing for multiple fiber cable types.
  • Calculate end-to-end fiber loss budgets per TIA/EIA standards.
  • Complete all required paperwork including work orders, timesheets, and material transfers accurately and on time.

Should Have:

  • Industry certifications such as Corning or FOA preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within team environments.
  • Proactive mindset with focus on process improvements and customer support.
  • Ability to serve as liaison between company and customer representatives.
