Our client is seeking an experienced Oracle Database and Applications Administrator to join their dynamic IT team on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the high availability, reliability, performance, and security of our Oracle infrastructure including Oracle RAC databases, E-Business Suite (EBS) applications, and supporting systems in a Linux environment. The pay rate for this role is between $60.00 - $70.00 per hour.
Important: Candidates must be able to work 100% onsite in San Leandro, CA and must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. as Visa sponsorship is not available.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer Oracle 19c RAC databases and Oracle EBS Applications (12.1/12.2: HR, Financials, Payroll), ensuring 24/7 availability.
- Manage Oracle WebCenter Content and other middleware applications.
- Administer Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata), Oracle App Servers, and Red Hat Linux servers/VMs running Tomcat, WebLogic, ORDS APEX, and related services.
- Perform database user management, backup and recovery (RMAN and filesystem tools).
- Maintain Data Guard Standbys and perform environment cloning for QA/Dev.
- Handle installations, patching, and upgrades for Oracle databases and applications.
- Monitor and tune database and application performance for optimal reliability.
- Install and maintain Oracle clients and development tools on user machines.
- Develop utilities and scripts to automate tasks, track system health, and generate reports.
- Collaborate with developers on release management and custom code deployments.
- Implement security measures including encryption, data obfuscation, and SSL.
- Document procedures and maintain detailed operations playbooks.
- Coordinate maintenance events (patches, upgrades, and scheduled downtime).
- Support audits by preparing documentation and compliance evidence.
- Work with vendors (Oracle, Red Hat, EMC, VMware, Nutanix) to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Provide support for business-critical applications beyond the Oracle ecosystem.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience in Oracle database and application administration.
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Strong hands-on expertise with Oracle 19c RAC architecture, Exadata, and Oracle EBS (12.1/12.2).
- Proficient in Oracle HR, Payroll, and Financials modules.
- Skilled in Red Hat and Oracle Linux system administration.
- Deep knowledge of high-availability configurations including Data Guard, RAC, and RMAN.
- Experienced in managing multi-terabyte databases and mission-critical systems.
- Advanced skills in PL/SQL, shell scripting, and performance tuning.
- Familiar with multi-tenancy (CDB/PDB) architecture.
- Strong understanding of database security, replication, encryption, and data masking.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with a focus on clear documentation.
- Oracle certifications and experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager are a plus.
- Backup and disaster recovery expertise using EMC and CommVault.
- Virtualization experience with VMware and Nutanix (preferred).
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Platform (preferred).
- Relevant technical certifications highly desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
- Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
- Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
