Compensation: $190,000–$300,000 base
Location: San Francisco, CA (Onsite) — Local preferred or Relocation required (confirm candidate can relocate immediately and indefinitely before submitting)

Role Overview: Founding Designer (2–3 Openings)
This is one role category with 2–3 founding designer hires, including the potential to hire one designer into a Head of Design or similar leadership track.
These designers will establish the design foundation for the company and directly shape future hiring as the team scales.
What You’ll Do
- Define the product’s design language and user experience from the ground up.
- Lead high-impact design initiatives across product, research flows, and platform UX.
- Execute high-quality, visually clean design work using Figma.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and leadership.
- Serve as a cultural and craft leader on one of the company’s most foundational teams.
- Help shape and later scale the design organization.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience
- Strong founding or early-stage startup experience.
- Has led a design or small team for 2 years (formal title not required).
- Proven ability to deliver 0→1 product design.
Portfolio Requirements
- Exceptional visual polish.
- Clean, modern, tasteful design aesthetic.
- Ability to communicate design rationale clearly.
Skills
- Prefer candidates with proven early-stage/0-to-1 startup experience over those with extensive large tech backgrounds
- Avoid profiles that are privacy/security/trust focused since we need a broad platform emphasis.
- Ensure candidates demonstrate deep TypeScript and full-stack (Python/Go or React/JS) expertise, not just siloed roles.
- Figma (expert level).
- Strong interaction design and UX problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
