Job Title: DevOps Engineer (AWS | Kubernetes | Rancher)
Location: Chicago, IL
Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days onsite
Employment Type: Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced DevOps Engineers with strong expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes orchestration, and Rancher platform management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and highly available cloud-native environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage scalable infrastructure on AWS
Deploy, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters (EKS or self-managed)
Administer and manage Rancher for Kubernetes cluster orchestration
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
Containerize applications using Docker and manage container lifecycle
Monitor system performance, reliability, and security
Troubleshoot production issues and ensure high availability
Collaborate with development and QA teams for release management
Enforce DevOps best practices and automation strategies

Required Skills & Qualifications

5+ years of DevOps / Cloud Engineering experience
Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, EKS, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, etc.)
Strong Kubernetes experience (cluster setup, scaling, networking, RBAC)
Experience working with Rancher for cluster management
Proficiency in Docker and containerization
Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.)
Strong Terraform experience for infrastructure provisioning
Experience with monitoring/logging tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.)
Good understanding of networking, security, and cloud architecture
Strong troubleshooting and automation mindset

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AWS EKS
Experience with Helm charts
Knowledge of scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
Experience in hybrid cloud or multi-cluster environments
AWS certification is a plus
