Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead the development and evolution of consumer-facing mobile applications in the payments and fintech ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience delivering mobile products similar to the Clover Consumer App / Starbucks / Chick-fil-A / Square/ Punchh, including loyalty, rewards, mobile ordering, digital payments, and customer engagement features. This role will work closely with engineering, UX, payments, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and user-centric mobile solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the product backlog for consumer mobile applications (iOS & Android) supporting payments, loyalty, rewards, and merchant discovery.
- Translate business requirements and customer needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
- Lead Agile ceremonies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with UX/UI teams to deliver intuitive, frictionless mobile experiences for consumers.
- Work closely with engineering teams to support features such as:
- Mobile payments & wallets
- Loyalty programs and rewards
- Order-ahead / mobile ordering
- Auto-pay / contactless payments
- Notifications, offers, and promotions
- Partner with payments, risk, compliance, and security teams to ensure adherence to PCI, data privacy, and regulatory standards.
- Analyze product performance using KPIs, user analytics, funnels, and A/B testing to drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with merchant platforms and backend services, ensuring seamless API integrations.
- Act as the primary point of contact between stakeholders and delivery teams, ensuring alignment on scope, priorities, and timelines.
- Support go-to-market planning, feature launches, and post-release optimizations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in product management / product ownership.
- Proven experience working on consumer mobile apps in fintech, payments, POS, or digital commerce domains.
- Strong understanding of mobile app ecosystems, including iOS/Android release cycles.
- Experience with digital payments, loyalty systems, or consumer engagement platforms (e.g., POS-integrated apps like Clover).
- Hands-on experience writing epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and managing backlogs in Jira or similar tools.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, backend services, and system integrations.
- Strong Agile/Scrum knowledge; CSPO or SAFe PO/PM certification is a plus.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with merchant services, POS platforms, or payment gateways.
- Familiarity with tokenization, wallets, contactless payments, and QR-based flows.
- Experience working in high-scale consumer apps with millions of users.
- Exposure to data analytics tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel, GA, etc.).
- Background in fintech or payments companies in Silicon Valley or similar ecosystems.
