Project Overview

The client is undergoing a multi-year modernization initiative to replace legacy systems and transition to a unified, cloud-native environment. This includes building MyPAS 3.0, an Azure-hosted pension administration system integrated with the MyTRS member portal and MyERS employer portal.

  • Membership: 210,000+ employees and retirees across 600+ school districts, career tech centers, colleges, and universities.
  • Challenges Addressed: Fragmented workflows, manual processes, limited scalability, stability issues.
  • Modern Stack: Angular, REST APIs, Azure SQL Managed Instances, Azure Function Apps, Power BI, document management & automation solutions.

 

Current State

  • Legacy systems migrated to Azure (May 2024)
  • MyTRS portal modernized (July 2025)
  • IS resources supporting both legacy and modern systems
  • Project charter and SDLC established
  • Modern application environment nearing completion

Responsibilities

 

Process Analysis & Documentation

  • Engage with business units to identify workflows and pain points
  • Interface with technical teams to translate requirements
  • Document current state processes (process maps, swimlane diagrams, workflow charts)
  • Facilitate discussions to define future state processes

 

Requirements Gathering & User Story Development

  • Translate business needs into functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and Azure DevOps work items
  • Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, and testable
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, and stakeholders

 

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Develop test plans, scripts, and instructions
  • Execute functional testing in Dev/Test environments
  • Document defects and track resolution
  • Coordinate and support UAT sessions

 

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as liaison between business and technical teams
  • Communicate updates, risks, and issues clearly
  • Support change management with training materials and documentation

 

Required Skills

  • Business analysis and process documentation experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to create clear process diagrams and workflow documentation
  • Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases
  • Familiarity with DevOps or similar tools
  • Hands-on experience with functional testing and UAT coordination
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
