Summary

Summary:

The AWS Architect designs, implements and manages cloud solutions using Amazon Web Services (AWS). They translate business needs into technical requirements, develop cloud strategies, and ensure the security, reliability, and performance of cloud-based systems. They also play a key role in advising teams on AWS best practices and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cloud strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Design and document cloud solutions, including architecture diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Build and deploy production systems in AWS, leveraging services for compute, storage, databases and networking.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize cloud spending and resource utilization, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices, including data protection, access control, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Monitor cloud solutions for performance issues and troubleshoot problems. Ensure high availability and scalability of systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to teams on AWS services, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Explore and recommend innovative solutions to improve business operations and automate processes using AWS.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and collaborate with various teams.
  • Experience and expertise in migration to AWS from DC.
  • The Architect will design and implement Cloud native AWS solutions beyond Just IaaS including but not limited to Serverless, Autoscaling, PaaS/SaaS solutions.
  • Actively shape the overall technical vision for MAPFRE, advocating for innovative architectural approaches that improve efficiency, scalability, and long-term technical health of the organization.
  • Build and lead high-performing architect teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence within the team.
  • Mentor and coach junior, mid-level, and potentially senior architects, developing their technical skills and leadership capabilities.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in relevant programming languages, software development principles, and a proven track record of leading large-scale architectural initiatives. Experience in building and leading high-performing architect teams is preferred.
  • Deep experience and understanding of AWS, IaaS and PaaS/SaaS services, including Kubernetes, compute, storage, networking, databases, security, and management tools.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud solutions, including migration strategies.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices, including IAM, security groups, and encryption.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, and routing.
  • Strong knowledge of IaC (Terraform, Ansible) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell).
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of AWS workspaces and Citrix Migration to AWS Workspaces.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Salary Range

$145,000 - $181,500
