The APIM Lead Developer/Architect will be responsible for designing, developing, securing, and managing APIs using API Management (APIM) platforms to support enterprise integrations across applications, data platforms, and business systems. The role focuses on enabling scalable, secure, and governed API-led integrations aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy APIs using Azure API Management (APIM) or equivalent API Gateway platforms Configure and manage API proxies, products, subscriptions, policies, and versioning strategies Implement API security using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT validation, certificates, and IP restrictions Apply APIM policies for transformation, routing, throttling, caching, logging, and error handling Integrate APIs with backend systems such as SAP (S/4HANA), ERP systems, CMS, and third-party applications Support synchronous and asynchronous integrations using REST, SOAP, and event-driven patterns Collaborate with architects to define API standards, governance models, and lifecycle management Monitor API performance, troubleshoot integration issues, and optimize API reliability and scalability Support CI/CD pipelines for APIM using Azure DevOps, ARM/Bicep, Terraform, or similar tools Produce technical documentation including API specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI), integration flows, and deployment guides

Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Azure API Management (APIM) Proficient in RESTful API design and OpenAPI (Swagger) specifications Experience with policy-based API development (inbound, outbound, backend, on error) Solid understanding of API security standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT, OAuth scopes, certificates) Experience integrating with enterprise systems (SAP, ERP, Data platforms, Middleware) Knowledge of cloud-native architectures on Microsoft Azure Familiarity with JSON, XML, API transformations, and message mediation DevOps & Automation Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Git, GitHub Actions) Infrastructure as Code exposure (ARM, Bicep, Terraform preferred) Monitoring and logging using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics
Experience Requirements
10–12 years of overall integration or middleware experience
8+ years of hands-on APIM / API Gateway development experience
Experience working in large-scale enterprise or multi system integration programs Prior exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, or data-driven programs is a plus
Nice to Have
Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, or Event Grid Understanding of API governance, reuse frameworks, and domain-driven design Experience supporting high-availability and mission-critical integrations
