Job Description: Senior Test Automation Lead (Playwright) – Onsite | Bay Area, CA | 1-Year Contract

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Test Automation Lead for a 1-year onsite contract engagement with our client in the Bay Area, CA. This role requires a highly hands-on automation expert who can lead the end-to-end test automation track while actively contributing to design, development, and execution.

The ideal candidate is a senior-level automation engineer with deep experience in Playwright, strong technical leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive automation strategy, framework architecture, and delivery excellence in a fast-paced environment.

This is a fully onsite role in the Bay Area, CA.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the Test Automation Track for a large-scale enterprise program.
Design, architect, and implement scalable automation frameworks using Playwright (mandatory).
Write high-quality, maintainable, and reusable automation scripts (hands-on coding required).
Define automation strategy, test coverage approach, and quality benchmarks.
Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and QA teams.
Integrate automation suites with CI/CD pipelines.
Conduct code reviews and enforce automation best practices.
Mentor and guide junior automation engineers.
Analyze test results, identify root causes, and drive defect resolution.
Continuously improve automation processes, performance, and reliability.
Drive automation across UI, API, and end-to-end workflows in complex enterprise applications.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of overall QA/Test Automation experience.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Playwright (must have).
Strong programming skills in TypeScript or JavaScript (preferred), or Java.
Proven experience designing and building automation frameworks from scratch.
Strong understanding of:
- UI test automation
- API automation
- Cross-browser testing
- CI/CD integration (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Highly Preferred / Big Plus

Experience testing Salesforce applications (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, custom Lightning components, integrations, etc.).
Strong understanding of automation challenges specific to Salesforce (dynamic DOM, Lightning UI, API validations, data setup).
Experience testing full-stack enterprise applications (frontend + backend + integrations).
Experience validating integrations between Salesforce and other systems (REST/SOAP APIs, middleware platforms, etc.).
Experience in data validation across UI, API, and database layers.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Experience with containerization (Docker).
Exposure to performance testing tools.
Prior experience leading automation tracks in enterprise programs.
Experience in highly regulated or large-scale production environments.

Excellent collaboration and leadership abilities.
Ability to operate independently in an onsite client-facing environment.
