Job Description

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer for our Missile/Sensor development programs.This position reports to the Program's Chief Engineer and will provide day-to-day interface with Program Manager, program engineering leads, suppliers and the Customer. The position is responsible for all technical performance and risk reduction activities for the weapon system development effort from Conops and system trades to requirements and compliance, implementation, integration, and verification, including transition to production and design upgrades required for intended applications. The candidate must have the experience, drive, and demonstrated capability to lead a team of engineers of multiple disciplines to provide technical excellence and mission success. Experience in missile and/or sensor design, development, and testing is required. Knowledge in key technologies is also desired and includes: GPS systems, processor architecture, aerodynamics, GNC, data links, propulsion, warheads, software design, and cyber security. Experience leading a team to achieve successful demonstration of program development milestones such as Systems Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), system integration and test, and Functional Configuration Audit (FCA) is highly desired.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. The candidate will be required to communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership as well as externally to the customer. Experience coordinating or managing subcontractors and subcontract technical management is desirable. The position requires excellent leadership skills in previous assignments, including building relationships with team members, direct reports, and stakeholders. Significant travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering activities in support of missile and/or sensor programs,

Experience required includes DoD tactical system development program experience, customer interface, requirements derivation/allocation, integration and test planning and execution, management of major subcontracts, understanding of Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) and their application, and participation in major design reviews.

Desired skills

Familiarity with formal decision analysis methods.

Experience using IBM DOORS and Cameo or similar for system requirements and Architecture. Knowledge of the following technologies is desired: Modeling & Simulation, GPS, Processor or FPGA design, aeronautics, GNC, data links, warheads, software implementation, and program protection. Experience with Agile process and tools, such as JIRA or similar. Experience with the entire program lifecycle from technology demonstrations to transition to production.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $122,900 - $216,660. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement
