Summary

Data Center FieldOps Technician-Fiber Technician Job Description: We are seeking a Data Center FieldOps (RunOps) Technician to support production network cabling and hardware operations within a mission-critical data center environment. The role involves MACs, fiber and copper cabling, smart-hands support, asset management, and on-call operations while ensuring compliance with safety and security standards. Key Responsibilities:

Perform data center Moves/Adds/Changes (MACs) for hardware, cabling, power, and network connectivity
Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber (SMF/MMF) and copper cabling
Provide smart-hands support, break-fix, certification, and troubleshooting within SLA
Install racks, patch panels, fiber hardware, grounding, and labeling
Conduct fiber testing using OTDR, Fluke, EFXO, continuity testing, and loss calculations
Perform mechanical and fusion splicing; troubleshoot fiber faults
Manage assets, documentation, tickets, timesheets, and material transfers
Support shipping/receiving, RMAs, vendor coordination, and security escorts
Conduct daily inspections for health, power, cooling, and safety
Follow data center security, badging, and media handling procedures
Participate in on-call support and emergency operations as required

Required Skills & Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED
Strong hands-on experience with data center cabling and hardware installation
Proficiency in fiber termination (LC, SC, ST, MPO/MTP) and copper termination
Experience testing and troubleshooting SMF/MMF networks
Familiarity with DC tools and documentation practices
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work at heights or confined spaces

Preferred Qualifications

3 5 years of fiber/data center experience
Mechanical & fusion splice experience
Data center installation or OSP experience
Industry certifications (FOA, Corning preferred)
