Role SummaryThe Zerto Solution Architect is the platform SME for all Zerto-based replication and DR orchestration on the program.This role designs the end-to-end Zerto architecture — ZVM placement, VRA deployment, journal sizing, VPG topology,and runbook design — and is responsible for ensuring Tier-0 and Tier-1 workloads achieve the seconds-grade RPOthat Zerto provides. Key Responsibilities• Zerto Architecture: Design Zerto Virtual Manager (ZVM) placement on-prem and in Azure, Virtual ReplicationAppliance (VRA) deployment strategy across VMware hosts, and Zerto cluster topology.• Journal & VPG Design: Calculate journal sizing per VPG based on change rate, retention windows, and storageperformance; define seeding strategies and bandwidth throttling/compression policies.• Workload Protection Strategy: Define VPG groupings aligned with application tiers and boot order, set RPOtargets per tier, and design failover/failback runbooks (Recovery Plans).• Tool Selection: Determine which workloads are protected by Zerto vs ASR based on RPO requirements,application criticality, and licensing economics.• Design Documentation: Author Zerto sections of the Architecture Design Document, Zerto runbook templates,monitoring and alerting design (metrics, dashboards, thresholds, escalation).Required Skills & Experience• 12+ years of enterprise infrastructure / DR architecture; 5+ years deep, hands-on Zerto platform experienceincluding VMware-to-Azure replication.• Demonstrated experience implementing Zerto for 500+ VM environments with complex multi-tier applicationdependencies.• Strong VMware vSphere knowledge (vCenter, ESXi, storage, networking) and Azure target-side networking andstorage.VIRTUSA HELIO AI USRC DR Project — Consulting Role JDs Page 7 of• Zerto Certified Professional (ZCP) – Enterprise Engineer or Zerto Certified Architect; current on latest Zertorelease (10.x+).• VMware VCP-DCV or VCAP-DCV Design.• Microsoft AZ-104 / AZ-305 strongly preferred to bridge with the Azure SA.Key Deliverables• Zerto HLD/LLD, journal sizing model, VPG inventory and grouping plan, failover runbooks (Recovery Plans), DRtest design, Zerto monitoring and alerting design, sign-off package.
