Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to serve in a flexible advisory and hands-on capacity as we expand the Dedham AI initiative. This role would primarily focus on validating architecture and guiding data-intensive decisions, with the ability to take on hands-on implementation work as needed.
De-risks major architectural decisions before significant build investment
Brings senior, specialized AI/data expertise without a full-time hire
Accelerates the Dedham AI initiative through expert validation, direction, and hands-on build capacity as needed
Helps the team avoid costly rework by getting the design right early
Key Responsibilities
Review and validate proposed data architectures and system designs
Advise on approach and best practices for data-intensive AI systems
Provide guidance on MCP (Model Context Protocol) system design and buildout
Advise on classification systems and related ML/AI workflows
Serve as a technical sounding board for the team's engineering decisions
Take on hands-on implementation work where needed, from prototyping to building production data systems
Qualifications
4+years of experience building data-intensive systems with experience in AI
Demonstrated expertise with MCP-based system design and implementation
Strong background in classification work
Familiarity with modern AI/LLM system architecture
Experience designing data pipelines, storage, and retrieval systems at scale
Ability to clearly communicate technical guidance to a non-specialist audience
