Vaco is partnering with a national wealth management organization to hire a Data Product Owner focused on building and scaling trusted master data capabilities across the enterprise. This role sits at the intersection of product strategy, data governance, and delivery, supporting a broader transformation of the organization’s data ecosystem.
You will own core master data domains and work closely with business stakeholders, data engineering, and governance teams to ensure data is accurate, trusted, and actively used across analytics, operations, and compliance functions. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires strong ownership, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and a focus on delivering measurable business outcomes through data.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the lifecycle and success of master data products across key domains such as client, advisor, account, firm, and product
- Define and evolve golden record standards, survivorship rules, and domain-specific data definitions
- Partner with data governance and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on data quality and usability
- Drive adoption of master data across analytics, reporting, operations, AI, and compliance use cases
- Define and track success metrics such as data quality, match rates, duplicate reduction, and downstream consumption
- Translate business needs into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria for delivery teams
- Act as the primary liaison between business users, data engineers, and product teams
- Coordinate dependencies across multiple product owners and teams to support enterprise-wide data alignment
- Support release activities including validation, deployment coordination, and communication of changes
- Facilitate discussions across technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive alignment and decision-making
Required Experience
- Experience in a Product Owner or Product Management role within data-focused environments
- Strong understanding of data management concepts including data modeling, data quality, governance, and warehousing
- Experience working in Agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban
- Ability to write and use SQL for data validation and analysis
- Experience translating business requirements into structured product deliverables
- Strong stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver in dynamic, evolving environments
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Master Data Management concepts or platforms
- Background in financial services or regulated industries
- Experience supporting analytics, reporting, or AI-driven use cases
- Familiarity with enterprise data ecosystems and cross-domain data dependencies
