What you'll do...
Role summary:
Walmart is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer III to support the design, enhancement, and maintenance of Walmart US Payroll systems. The ideal candidate brings 12+ years of end-to-end SAP HCM Payroll functional and technical experience, with a strong understanding of US payroll regulations, schemas, PCRs, integrations, and system performance optimization.
This role will contribute to payroll transformation efforts, collaborate with cross-functional teams, troubleshoot complex issues, build scalable solutions, and ensure accurate payroll delivery for one of the world's largest employee populations.

The team is dedicated to advancing Walmart US Payroll systems through innovative design, enhancement, and maintenance. Members collaborate across functions to support payroll transformation, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery for a large workforce. The group emphasizes scalable solutions, system performance optimization, and troubleshooting complex issues. Utilizing Agile methodology and SAP expertise, the team drives continuous improvement and operational excellence. It fosters a professional environment focused on meeting business objectives, leveraging technical skills, and maintaining high standards in software development and project management to support Walmart's mission and customer commitments.

What you'll do:
Perform hands-on configuration of SAP HCM Payroll, including schemas, PCRs, wage types, garnishments, tax models, and retroactivity processing.
Analyze and resolve complex payroll issues and defects.
Implement SAP OSS notes, tax updates (BSI), and year-end activities.
Design, develop, and optimize ABAP programs, user exits, reports.
Build and maintain integrations using BAPIs, IDocs, RFCs, APIs
Partner with business, HR, Time, Benefits, and Compliance teams
Support payroll transformation initiatives, system upgrades, migration projects, and new technology rollouts.
Provide production support for critical payroll processing, monitoring jobs, logs, and system performance.
Ensure adherence to Walmart engineering standards, security controls, and SOX/audit requirements.
Drive continuous improvement, automation, and process optimization efforts.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in Agile methodology and software design principles to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in coding languages such as SAP Configurations, HR ABAP, with experience in relevant frameworks and platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and translate business and technical requirements into functional software components.
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, automation scripting, and telemetry implementation.
  • Knowledge of software testing strategies, defect management, and root cause analysis to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Familiarity with project management practices and tools to support timely delivery and risk mitigation.
  • Commitment to applying coding standards, security policies, and quality assurance throughout development.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
