In this role, you will lead critical security engineering teams dedicated to safeguarding the integrity of Staples' networks, systems, applications, and data. You'll play a pivotal part in scaling secure adoption of AI and data initiatives while ensuring cyber resilience across the enterprise.

What you'll be doing:

The Senior Manager Cyber Security oversees high-performing engineers responsible for core cybersecurity engineering functions such as Data Loss Prevention, AI Security & Governance, Encryption, Vulnerability Management, Endpoint, Cloud Security, Edge Protection, and IoT/OT. The position will focus on implementing automation to improve operational efficiency and scalability, ensuring compliance, and assessing the security impact of new technologies and initiatives. You'll interface with VPs, advocate for your team, and align security work across the organization, making sound technical judgments that balance business enablement with robust security guardrails.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Providing 24/7 operational support and incident response readiness
  • Distributing resources according to strategic and tactical goals
  • Managing ongoing training and development for team members
  • Representing cybersecurity objectives to executive leadership
  • Helping to drive new initiatives in security for IoT / OT

The role requires expertise in technical cybersecurity, leadership in managing teams, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional groups within an evolving enterprise environment.

What you bring to the table:
  • Manages the IT security functions, technology and talent
  • Assists with overseeing tasks associated with the protection of systems and databases from unwanted users, disaster recovery
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles
  • Leading and directing the work of employees with full authority for personnel decisions
  • Primarily focused on administering established policies and procedures but may have some impact on departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change
  • Manage capital and operating expenses budget for technology area
  • Ability to execute analytical problem decomposition and solution design
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to influence and educate engineering teams, product management, and leadership

What's needed - Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of experience in security application development and architecture.
  • Experience leading and managing a team of cyber security engineers, preferably both local and remote management
  • In depth experience evaluating, deploying and leading support of common security tools: Examples are Microsoft Defender & Purview, SASE / Zscaler, Qualys, CI/CD (Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, Google Cloud Platform Native Security Controls), Akamai Security Portfolio
  • Background in Agile development methodologies and experience with web/mobile application technologies

What's needed - Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
  • Experience researching and implementing IoT/OT protection solutions
  • Establishing best practices and implementation of DevSecOps functionality
  • Experience with cloud security (ORCA, WIZ) and contemporary threat mitigation technologies

The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity.
