Data Engineer Lead with Java Programming exp

We are seeking a client-facing 13+ years of experience Lead Engineer with strong expertise in database design and development using PostgreSQL and Snowflake, along with hands-on experience in Java-based microservices and API development/consumption. The ideal candidate should be capable of designing scalable data solutions, building robust APIs, and working closely with client stakeholders while supporting a hybrid onsite–offshore delivery model.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the fintech/payments domain and exposure to data catalog and metadata management tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, high-performance database solutions using PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
  
• Build and optimize data models, schemas, and queries for efficient data processing and analytics.
  
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices using Java.
  
• Enable seamless API consumption and integration across enterprise systems.
  
• Act as a primary point of contact for client stakeholders, participating in requirement discussions, solution design, and status updates.
  
• Provide technical leadership and direction to offshore teams, ensuring quality, timelines, and alignment with client expectations.
  
• Support onsite coordination, including issue resolution, design decisions, and delivery governance.
  
• Implement best practices for data governance, security, and performance tuning.
  
• Work with or support data catalog tools to manage metadata, lineage, and data discoverability.
  

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience in PostgreSQL and Snowflake (database design, development, and performance tuning).
  
• Hands-on experience with Java and Microservices architecture.
  
• Experience in API design, development, and consumption (RESTful services).
  
• Solid understanding of data modelling and distributed systems.
  
• Proven experience in a client-facing role with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  
• Ability to work effectively in an onsite–offshore delivery model.
