Salary Range: $60-$75/hour



Summary


This role is focused on building, operating, and securing a robust on premises infrastructure environment across multiple datacenter locations. The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for managing core networking, Windows Server platforms, and identity access management within a Microsoft-based ecosystem. This position requires hands-on experience maintaining highly available systems, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to lead or contribute to complex infrastructure initiatives with minimal supervision. The engineer will work across teams to ensure systems remain secure, resilient, and aligned with organizational standards.



Responsibilities



  • Design, configure, and support on premises network infrastructure including switches, routers, VPNs, and edge connectivity.

  • Administer and optimize Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, file services, and clustering.

  • Manage and enhance Microsoft identity access technologies such as AD DS, Entra ID / Azure AD, MFA, conditional access, and identity lifecycle processes.

  • Implement and maintain server builds, hardware lifecycle management, OS updates, and environment hardening.

  • Monitor infrastructure health, analyze alerts, troubleshoot performance issues, and drive incident resolution.

  • Support network and system security initiatives, including segmentation, policy enforcement, identity security, and configuration management best practices.

  • Partner with internal teams to ensure systems, networks, and identities meet compliance and security standards.

  • Maintain technical documentation including diagrams, procedures, and configuration records.

  • Participate in a rotating on call schedule to provide 24/7/365 support coverage.

  • Support cross-functional projects, contributing technical insight throughout planning and execution phases.

  • Assist with audit activities and implement remediations related to regulatory or security controls.



Skills



  • 10-15 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering with strong focus on:


    • On prem networking (routing, switching, VPN, network protocols)

    • Windows Server administration (AD DS, GPO, DNS/DHCP, clusters)

    • Microsoft IAM (Entra ID, MFA, conditional access, identity governance)


  • Strong diagnostic skills spanning servers, networks, authentication, and directory services.

  • Experience supporting enterprise datacenter operations and hybrid Microsoft environments.

  • Knowledge of backup and recovery systems, monitoring platforms, and configuration baselines.

  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, ISO 27001/27002, SOC2, etc.

  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong documentation and reporting capabilities.

  • Preferred certifications: Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE/Azure), CCNA/Network+, Security+, CISSP, or similar.

  • Ability to work across time zones, travel up to 25%, and maintain on-call availabilit
