SAP Abap Consultant

Role Summary:

The SAP ABAP Lead Consultant will lead the design, development, and delivery of custom SAP ABAP solutions across SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA landscapes. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and close collaboration with functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable SAP solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership
Lead and mentor a team of ABAP developers; conduct code reviews and enforce best practices
Own end-to-end ABAP development including design, build, testing, deployment, and support
Define technical standards, development guidelines, and coding frameworks
ABAP Development
Develop and enhance ABAP programs including:
Reports (ALV, Classical, Interactive)
Interfaces (IDoc, BAPI, RFC, Web Services)
Enhancements (User Exits, BADIs, Enhancements Framework)
Forms (SMARTFORMS, SAPSCRIPT, Adobe Forms)
Perform performance tuning and optimization of ABAP programs
Handle complex debugging and root-cause analysis
S/4HANA & Advanced Technologies
Work on S/4HANA custom code remediation
Develop using ABAP on HANA, CDS Views, AMDP, and Open SQL
Exposure to OData, Fiori/UI5 integration is highly desirable
Functional Collaboration
Work closely with SAP Functional Consultants (FI, CO, MM, SD, PP, HR, etc.)
Translate business requirements into technical specifications
Participate in solution design discussions and technical architecture decisions
Integration & Data Management
Design and support integrations with third-party systems
Manage data migration and conversion programs using LSMW, BDC, or custom tools
Project & Stakeholder Management
Estimate development efforts and support project planning
Coordinate with onshore/offshore teams
Support UAT, cutover, and go-live activities
Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills
8+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP experience
Strong experience in ABAP Objects (OO ABAP)
Experience with SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA
Strong knowledge of:
IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs
Enhancements, BADIs, User Exits
ALV reports and forms
Experience with CDS Views, OData services, or Fiori is a plus
Leadership & Soft Skills
Proven experience leading ABAP teams
Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Nice-to-Have Skills:
SAP Fiori/UI5 development exposure
Experience with SAP Solution Manager
SAP workflow development
Prior experience in SAP upgrades or S/4HANA migrations
