Summary

Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Denver, CO

Work Arrangement: Hybrid 1 day per week in person

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer with strong foundational knowledge of manual testing principles, including test case design, types of testing (functional, regression, API, performance), and defect management.

Responsibilities & Skills

  • Strong foundational knowledge of manual testing principles, including test case design, types of testing (functional, regression, API, performance), and defect management.
  • Technical skill to write, run, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright, TypeScript, Java, k6, MCP, AI-assisted testing, and others.
  • Proficiency in using developer tools, reading error logs, and tracing the source of an issue to provide detailed information to developers, including Google DevTools, application logs, HTTP requests/responses, stack traces, heap dumps, etc.
  • Proficiency in translating high-level business and functional requirements into detailed, efficient, and comprehensive test cases.
  • Knowledge of industry-wide quality assurance measures, testing standards, and current best practices.
  • Knowledge of identifying potential quality risks, assessing their impact and likelihood, and formulating effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to be proactive in identifying potential issues early in the development lifecycle rather than reactively finding them later.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with software engineers, system personnel, and management.
  • Extensive knowledge of various test automation tools and framework architectures, including data-driven, keyword-driven, hybrid, and BDD.
  • Technical skill to design, implement, and improve custom, enterprise-wide, and reusable automation frameworks.
  • Ability to adapt to new challenges, pivot strategies when data suggests a different path, and remain resilient in the face of setbacks.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Practical skill integrating automated tests with various systems such as version control, CI/CD pipelines, and test management tools.
  • Competency with test management tools such as Zephyr Scale and GitLab for logging bugs and tracking test progress.
  • Knowledge of various database systems, including relational databases and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with specialized test data management and data governance platforms.
  • Ability to analyze test requirements and profile existing production data.
  • Deep understanding of core testing principles, including test case design techniques such as boundary value analysis and equivalence partitioning, defect lifecycles, and how testing integrates into various methodologies.
  • Technical skill to design realistic performance test scenarios, including scripting user journeys, parameterizing data, and creating load models.
  • Ability to systematically break down complex processes, identify bottlenecks, waste, and variation, and develop innovative, data-driven solutions.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages.
  • Ability to execute predefined test cases and perform unscripted exploratory testing.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Attends meetings and training as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant quality assurance/automated testing experience.
  • Additional relevant work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required formal education.
