About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Data Engineer Intern to join our data and analytics team. This internship is designed for students or entry level candidates who are passionate about data engineering, big data technologies, and building scalable data pipelines. The intern will work closely with senior data engineers, data scientists, and product teams to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

This role provides hands-on experience with real-world datasets, cloud platforms, and modern data engineering tools used in production environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines

  • Collect, clean, transform, and validate structured and unstructured data from multiple sources

  • Support development and optimization of data warehouses and data lakes

  • Write and optimize SQL queries for analytics and reporting use cases

  • Work with batch and streaming data pipelines

  • Assist in implementing data quality checks, monitoring, and logging

  • Collaborate with data scientists to prepare datasets for machine learning models

  • Document data pipelines, schemas, and workflows

  • Support data migration and integration projects

  • Follow best practices for data security, privacy, and governance


Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:

    • Computer Science

    • Data Science

    • Information Systems

    • Software Engineering

    • or a related STEM field

  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and databases

  • Proficiency in SQL

  • Basic to intermediate experience with Python or Java

  • Understanding of ETL concepts and data pipeline architecture

  • Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle)


Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Exposure to Big Data technologies: Hadoop, Spark, Hive

  • Experience with Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

    • (e.g., S3, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Data Factory)

  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools: Airflow, Prefect, or similar

  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts (star/snowflake schemas)

  • Understanding of streaming tools: Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub

  • Basic experience with Linux/Unix environments

  • Version control experience using Git/GitHub

  • Awareness of data security and compliance best practices
