We are seeking a Software Engineer who can operate effectively across both platform engineering and application development ideally. This individual should have a general understanding of infrastructure and DevOps concepts (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD), while also being capable of building production-grade services and APIs. Any sort of internal tooling experience is a nice to have. Willing to learn/reading documentation in this role is key! Someone who understands what it means to deliver code in production.
ON CALL: every 8 weeks for 2 week shifts (mainly during core working hours - the volume outside of core working hours is very low)

Core Strengths
? Production software engineering. Delivers and supports reliable services with a focus on readable code, testing, and operational readiness.
? CI/CD & developer workflow automation. Builds and maintains CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred), templates, and automation.
? Applied AI for developer productivity. Leverages AI tools (prompt engineering, agent frameworks) to accelerate automation, improve self-service, and streamline developer workflows.
? Linux & command-line operations. Troubleshoots platform services, diagnoses production issues, and automates day-to-day operations in Linux environments.
? API & integration development. Implements and maintains internal APIs.
? Observability. Implements monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting (Datadog preferred), focusing on actionable signals and reduced alert fatigue.
? On-call. Participates in on-call rotations, helps troubleshoot incidents, and contributes to follow-ups (runbooks, alerts, and reliability improvements).

Nice to have
? Kubernetes. Experience with deploying, monitoring, and trouble-shooting container-based applications in Kubernetes clusters (OpenShift preferred).
? Internal developer portals & self-service tooling. Experience enabling discoverability, standardized workflows, and templates using Backstage or similar frameworks.
? Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). Contributes to Terraform modules and environment definitions to support repeatable provisioning and safer change management.
? Cloud-native development (AWS). Develops and runs services on AWS.
