The Bioinformatics Support II role provides advanced scientific and analytical support to CDC genomic surveillance programs. This position serves as a bridge between laboratory science and computational analysis, supporting the execution of genomic surveillance pipelines and analysis of sequencing data to inform public health operations.
Compensation & Benefits:Pay commensurate with experience.

Bioinformatics Support II - Genomic Data & Pipeline Analyst Responsibilities Include: Execute and monitor amplicon and metagenomic sequencing pipelines
Perform QC checks on sequencing data
Analyze variant trends and lineage assignments
Generate reports and visualizations
Maintain reproducible workflows
Perform QC on sequencing outputs (coverage, lineage, variants)
Analyze genomic data using tools such as:
Nextclade
Freyja
Minimap2
Work in Linux/Unix environments
Develop scripts in Python, R, or Bash
Maintain reproducible workflows using Nextflow or Snakemake
Collaborate with lab and epidemiology teams
Bioinformatics Support II - Genomic Data & Pipeline Analyst Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Master's or PhD in Bioinformatics, Microbiology, or related field
Experience with tools: Nextclade, Freyja, Minimap2
Python/R/Bash proficiency
Linux/Unix experience
Strong communication and analytical skills
Ability to work independently and resolve problems without constant supervision
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Must pass the pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
