About the Role
The Senior AI Development Engineer reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and plays a critical role in advancing the organization s enterprise AI strategy. This position is responsible for designing, building, and deploying productiongrade artificial intelligence solutions across a large, regulated healthcare environment.
As a senior technical leader, this role will influence architectural direction, establish AI engineering standards, and ensure that AI initiatives deliver measurable clinical and business value while meeting the highest standards for security, privacy, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
AI Solution Design & Development
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable AI/ML solutions (including predictive analytics, NLP, and generative AI) aligned with enterprise strategy set by the CTO and the business and clinical requirements
- Build productionready pipelines for data ingestion, model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring
- Apply rigorous software engineering practices and process controls to AI systems, including testing, deployment, versioning, and observability
Enterprise & Healthcare Integration
- Partner with the CTO , enterprise architecture teams, and business stakeholders, to align AI solutions with longterm technology roadmaps
- Integrate AI systems with PMS/EHR/EMR platforms, data warehouses, APIs, and cloud infrastructure
- Ensure performance, resilience, and scalability of AI workloads across the organization
Security, Privacy & Compliance
- Design AI solutions that comply with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST) and internal governance standards
- Collaborate with security, privacy, and risk teams to implement secure model development and deployment practices
- Support responsible AI initiatives, including bias mitigation, explainability, auditability, and governance frameworks
Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Act as a senior technical advisor on AI architecture, platforms, and emerging technologies
- Mentor engineers and data scientists, setting expectations for code quality, documentation, and design rigor
- Help define enterprise AI standards, patterns, and best practices
CrossFunctional Collaboration
- Work with executive leadership, clinical leaders, product teams, and operations to translate business need and strategic priorities into AI solutions
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior leaders and nontechnical stakeholders
- Support AI initiatives from proofofconcept through enterprisewide deployment
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on AI/ML systems
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikitlearn)
- Experience deploying AI solutions in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform)
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and data engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in healthcare or other highly regulated industries
- Handson experience with generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and AI orchestration frameworks
- Familiarity with MLOps, model monitoring, and enterprise data platforms
- Knowledge of responsible AI and AI governance practices
