Job Title: Senior Azure Cloud Architect / Enterprise Architect (Infrastructure & Transformation)
Location: Local Candidates Only - Vienna, VA (Hybrid/Onsite Preferred)
Compensation : $70–90/hr
Duration : Longterm ongoing contract
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Cloud Architect / Enterprise Architect to lead large-scale cloud transformation, infrastructure modernization, and enterprise architecture initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure, hybrid cloud, infrastructure architecture, and cloud governance, along with strong experience working with executive stakeholders and driving global transformation programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise cloud strategy, architecture, and transformation initiatives across Azure and hybrid environments
- Design and implement scalable, secure Azure architectures (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
- Drive datacenter to cloud migrations, modernization, and cloud adoption programs
- Architect hybrid cloud solutions integrating on-prem and Azure environments (VNets, ExpressRoute, identity integration)
- Establish cloud governance, security, and compliance frameworks (NIST, CIS, enterprise standards)
- Lead infrastructure architecture including compute, storage, networking, and backup strategies
- Implement disaster recovery (DR), business continuity (BCP), and high availability solutions
- Drive DevOps and automation initiatives (Terraform, ARM templates, CI/CD pipelines)
- Partner with leadership (CIO, CTO, CISO) to align technology strategy with business goals
- Lead cross-functional teams of architects, engineers, and vendors
- Manage cloud cost optimization (FinOps), budgeting, and vendor relationships
Required Skills & Experience
- 12+ years of experience in Cloud Architecture / Enterprise Architecture
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure (core requirement)
- Experience with Hybrid & Multi-Cloud (Azure + AWS preferred)
- Deep knowledge of:
- Azure networking (VNets, ExpressRoute)
- Identity (Azure AD / Entra ID, SSO, MFA)
- Infrastructure (compute, storage, backup, DR)
- Experience with cloud migration, datacenter exit, and modernization programs
- Strong background in security, compliance, and governance frameworks
- Hands-on experience with:
- Terraform / ARM / PowerShell
- Kubernetes / containers (preferred)
- Experience working in large enterprise environments (50K+ users preferred)
- Strong client-facing and executive communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Financial Services, Banking, or Enterprise Consulting environments
- Exposure to M&A technology integration and due diligence
- Certifications:
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- AWS Solutions Architect (plus)
- CISSP / Security certifications (plus)
- Experience with Office 365, enterprise collaboration, and identity platforms
