Basic Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer with 5 10 years of experience who brings a strong blend of technical documentation expertise, SharePoint administration, and development capability. This role is responsible for creating, managing, and enhancing technical documentation while designing and maintaining SharePoint-based knowledge management solutions. The contractor will partner with technical and business teams to deliver clear, user-friendly, and scalable documentation that supports enterprise systems and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and maintain technical documentation including user guides, administrator guides, and SOPs.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
  • Design and maintain SharePoint sites, libraries, navigation, and metadata structures.
  • Build and enhance SharePoint solutions using lists, libraries, web parts, and workflows.
  • Manage document lifecycle processes including version control, governance, and archival.
  • Develop and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guidelines.
  • Collaborate with business and technical subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather requirements and validate content.
  • Participate in Agile/SDLC processes to ensure documentation aligns with project delivery.
  • Create diagrams, workflows, and visuals to enhance content usability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes and leverage Microsoft 365 tools, including Copilot.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5 10 years of experience in technical writing or documentation development.
  • Experience supporting enterprise systems, applications, or technical teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Desired Skills

  • Strong expertise in SharePoint administration (site design, libraries, governance).
  • Experience with SharePoint development (pages, lists, workflows, and integrations).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Familiarity with Agile or SDLC methodologies.
  • Experience with diagramming tools such as Visio.
  • Knowledge of information architecture and content design principles.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Copilot) to improve documentation efficiency.
