Senior SAP BTP Developer – United States

Role overview

Our client is extending its SAP S/4HANA landscape on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) under a clean-core strategy. The Senior SAP BTP Developer owns the technical design and delivery of side-by-side extensions, integrations, and user experiences. You will take a business need, decide how it should be built across BTP, S/4HANA, and connected systems, and own security, performance, and deployment from design through production. You will also set technical standards and lead other developers.

Key responsibilities

•      Architecture and technical leadership. Choose the right approach for each requirement, including CAP versus RAP, side-by-side versus on-stack, and which BTP services to use. Set coding and design standards, conduct code reviews, and mentor developers. Advise the business on which custom objects to move off the S/4HANA core.

•      Extensions. Design and build custom applications and services using the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP, Node.js or Java) and the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), connected to S/4HANA through released APIs without core modifications.

•      User experience. Build Fiori elements and freestyle SAPUI5 applications. Configure SAP Build Work Zone as the launchpad and portal.

•      Integration. Design and build integrations in SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration / CPI) between SAP and third-party systems such as Salesforce, Workday, banks, suppliers, and legacy applications, using REST and OData APIs, events (SAP Event Mesh / Advanced Event Mesh), and iFlows.

•      Data. Model and work with data in SAP HANA Cloud, and in SAP Datasphere where required.

•      Security and connectivity. Implement authentication and authorization with XSUAA and SAP Cloud Identity Services (IAS/IPS), including role collections and scopes. Configure destinations and the SAP Cloud Connector for on-premise access.

•      Deployment and DevOps. Deploy to the Cloud Foundry and Kyma (Kubernetes) runtimes. Build CI/CD pipelines and manage transports using SAP Continuous Integration and Delivery, SAP Cloud Transport Management, and Git.

•      Automation and AI. Deliver solutions using SAP Build Process Automation and SAP Build Apps, and evaluate SAP AI services (Generative AI Hub, SAP AI Core) and Joule for appropriate use cases.

•      Client engagement. Lead technical workshops, present design options with trade-offs, and work directly with business and IT stakeholders, including during onsite visits.

Required qualifications

•      8+ years of SAP technical experience, with at least 4 years of hands-on development on SAP BTP.

•      Production delivery experience with CAP (Node.js or Java) and with RAP or modern ABAP for S/4HANA.

•      Hands-on SAP Integration Suite (CPI) experience, including iFlow design, error handling, and monitoring.

•      Fiori elements and SAPUI5 development, plus SAP Build Work Zone configuration.

•      Working knowledge of XSUAA, IAS, destinations, and Cloud Connector setup.

•      Deployment experience on Cloud Foundry; Kyma exposure.

•      At least one full-lifecycle S/4HANA project where you owned the BTP technical design.

•      Demonstrated technical leadership: code reviews, standards, and mentoring.

•      Strong written and verbal communication with business and technical audiences.

Preferred qualifications

•      SAP Certified Associate or Professional certifications in BTP, CAP, Integration Suite, or ABAP Cloud.

•      SAP HANA Cloud and SAP Datasphere experience.

•      SAP Build Process Automation, SAP Build Apps, and SAP AI services or Joule.

•      Event-driven architecture with SAP Event Mesh or Advanced Event Mesh.

•      Experience with RISE with SAP or GROW with SAP programs.

Work model and eligibility

•      Remote within the United States, with 20–30% travel to the client office. Travel is typically planned for workshops, design sessions, and go-live periods.

•      Must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship terms are confirmed per requisition.

•      Must be able to travel domestically on short notice when required.
