Summary

Duration: 3 months contract

Job Description:
  • We are seeking an experienced PCBA Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing defective electronic boards.
  • The core requirement is the ability to independently troubleshoot non-functional or defective PCBAs with or without schematics, design documentation, or other supporting technical information.
  • The candidate should be able to work systematically from symptoms, measurements, signals, power rails, components, and board behavior to isolate faults and determine root cause using electronics fundamentals, diagnostic equipment, circuit analysis, and reverse engineering.
  • This role requires strong board-level diagnostic skills, sound electrical and electronics knowledge, critical thinking, and the persistence to resolve complex issues with minimal guidance. Occasional international travel, primarily to Singapore and China, may be required for technical escalations.
Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot defective PCBAs / electronic boards, with or without relevant design documentation, schematics, or technical drawings.
  • Independently develop a structured troubleshooting approach based on observed symptoms, measurements, circuit behavior, and available information.
  • Perform board-level and component-level fault isolation and identify root causes of failures.
  • Use reverse-engineering techniques to understand unfamiliar boards when documentation is incomplete or unavailable.
  • Trace signals, power rails, and circuit paths to isolate defective components or functional sections.
  • Develop comprehensive board repair plans, including troubleshooting approach, repair methodology, timelines, dependencies, and required resources.
  • Use diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, logic analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot power supplies, power distribution, electrical systems, and related circuitry.
  • Determine appropriate repair, replacement, modification, or further diagnostic actions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance and take ownership of technically challenging issues through resolution.
  • Support technical escalations at customer or site locations, including travel primarily to Singapore and China.
  • Document troubleshooting findings, root causes, repair actions, and final outcomes.
  • Consistently deliver assignments within agreed timelines.
Experience:
  • Proven hands-on experience diagnosing and troubleshooting defective PCBAs / circuit boards with or without schematics or design documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot an unknown or unfamiliar board from symptoms and measurements rather than relying solely on existing documentation.
  • Strong understanding of electronic circuits, electrical systems, and power supplies.
  • Strong experience with component-level and board-level fault isolation.
  • Hands-on expertise with:
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Digital multimeters (DMM)
    • Logic analyzers
  • Other electronic diagnostic and measurement equipment
  • Experience with reverse engineering / circuit analysis of existing hardware.
  • Strong root-cause analysis and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to create and execute practical repair and troubleshooting strategies independently.
  • Comfortable working with minimal guidance and incomplete technical information.
  • Demonstrated ability to persevere through difficult technical problems and deliver solutions on time.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, primarily to Singapore and China, for technical escalations.
Skillsets:
  • PCBA repair, failure analysis, sustaining engineering
  • Hands-on electronics rework, soldering, component replacement
  • Power electronics, power conversion, power distribution, or complex power supplies
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field
