Role Summary
OSI Digital is looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in dbt Core, dbt Cloud, Fivetran, and Snowflake. The ideal candidate should have strong experience building modern cloud-based ELT solutions, with dbt as the primary transformation framework, Fivetran for automated data ingestion, and Snowflake as the cloud data platform. This role requires someone who can independently design, build, test, deploy, troubleshoot, and optimize production-grade data pipelines and transformation models. The candidate should have a strong understanding of dimensional modeling, SQL, data quality, CI/CD, and modern analytics engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data transformation pipelines using dbt Core and dbt Cloud.
- Build and maintain reusable dbt models, macros, tests, snapshots, seeds, and packages following established development standards.
- Configure and manage dbt Cloud environments, jobs, schedules, deployments, and orchestration workflows.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Fivetran connectors for SaaS applications, databases, files, and other supported source systems.
- Understand and manage Fivetran schema changes, historical syncs, incremental loads, connector configurations, and destination behavior.
- Design and develop scalable data solutions within Snowflake, including databases, schemas, tables, views, secure views, and other required data objects.
- Write advanced and optimized SQL for complex data transformations, data validation, reconciliation, and analytics requirements.
- Build curated, analytics-ready datasets and data marts that can support BI tools, reporting, advanced analytics, and downstream applications.
- Translate business requirements and source-system structures into scalable data models and transformation logic.
- Perform source-to-target mapping, data profiling, reconciliation, and validation across source systems, Fivetran, Snowflake, and dbt transformation layers.
- Apply strong dimensional modeling principles, including fact tables, dimension tables, star schemas, and appropriate data-grain definition.
- Use Git-based development practices including branching, pull requests, code reviews, version control, and controlled deployments.
- Implement and support CI/CD processes for dbt development and deployment across development, testing, and production environments.
- Design and build Snowflake Bronze/Raw, Silver/Cleansed, Gold/Business-Ready, and Semantic layers following a medallion-style architecture, with dbt used for reusable and governed transformations.
- Configure and manage Fivetran ingestion pipelines, including source connections, scheduling, initial load validation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Use Git, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines for source control, approvals, deployment automation, and release promotion across environments.
- Apply Snowflake security practices including RBAC, object-level permissions, and dynamic data masking where required.
- Develop, configure, test, and refine the Snowflake CoCo AI Agent, working with business stakeholders to validate semantic definitions, business metrics, governed questions, and AI-generated responses.
- Troubleshoot production data issues across the end-to-end pipeline from source → Fivetran → Snowflake → dbt → consumption layer.
- Collaborate with data architects, data engineers, BI developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions.
- Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, solution reviews, and implementation planning.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Data Warehousing, or related areas.
- Strong hands-on expertise in dbt Core and dbt Cloud, including modeling, incremental loads, testing, macros, snapshots, documentation, lineage, and deployment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Fivetran, including connector configuration, sync management, schema changes, monitoring, troubleshooting, and data validation.
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including SQL development, database/schema design, data modeling, warehouse management, performance tuning, security, and cost optimization.
- Advanced SQL skills with the ability to independently develop and troubleshoot complex transformation logic.
- Strong understanding of ELT architecture, dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and modern cloud data platform concepts.
- Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, data quality, and multi-environment deployment practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred / Plus Qualifications
- dbt and/or Snowflake certifications.
- Working knowledge of Python for data engineering and automation.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications such as Salesforce, NetSuite, SAP, or Workday.
- Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, observability, and data lineage.
- Experience working in consulting or client-facing data engineering environments.
